As an MMJ at KOMU 8 News, I pitched stories that impacted our mid-Missouri audience. I also shot and edited videos, wrote web stories and scripts and performed demonstrative stand-ups.

I secured a one-on-one interview with Ron Stallworth at his alma mater as he recounted infiltrating the KKK and promoted his memoir, "Black Klansman."

I developed an exclusive, eye-opening investigation into an elderly man's commitment to
boiling his water for over a decade after his mobile home park management failed to comply
with the Safe Water Drinking Act.

I secured an exclusive one-on-one interview with embattled Missouri Gov. Eric Greitens less than a week before his resignation. After he unexpectedly showed up at an NRA Bianchi Cup, he agreed to an interview, but members of Greitens' staff encouraged me to focus solely on the event. I asked him for a comment regarding the House Investigative committee evaluating alleged misconduct.

I celebrated a local man's life and the impact he made on his community through Special Olympics in an enterprise report.

I reported on one man, who experienced trouble with mental health throughout his childhood, helping other children by spreading awareness through music.

I presented an in-depth interview with a sexual assault victim, who opened about her past to
share the importance of funding domestic violence shelters.

I connected with a high schooler who shared her bullying experience and took a stand in a
creative way. The student hosted a pledging event where other students and staff could sign
their name on a paper butterfly to stop bullying. She chose butterflies because she was inspired
by the Butterfly Effect. "The flap of a butterfly's wings can create a tsunami on the other side of
the world," she said. "It's the idea that even the smallest change can make the biggest
difference."
